Women Take the Walls

Exhibition at Garrett Museum of Art

July 7 – October 1, 2023

Andrea Pereira de Almeida will display her work in a group exhibition at the Garrett Museum of Art, alongside 10 other female artists in the first annual “Women Take the Walls” show. Andrea will be showing 15 paintings. Her work depicts colorful views of nature–from flowers in her backyard, to vistas in the midwest, Colorado, and Brazil, to a portrait of her mother-in-law and kids on Lake Michigan (pictured left, Peeky Sunset, 36×48 inches). She uses bold colors and expressive wavy lines to paint scenes that are energetic and playful.

About Andrea

Andrea currently lives and works in Northwest Ohio. She paints both plein air and in her studio, using photos she’s taken while out running or hiking. Her style could best be described as a unique variation of pointilism. She uses expressive, wavy lines of various lengths, instead of dots, applying thick brush strokes in an alla prima approach.
