Andrea Almeida: From Toledo to São Paulo

Painting Paradise

The Union League Club of Chicago
Third Floor Gallery ULCC
65 W Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL

March 2, 2022 – May 27, 2022

Andrea Almeida creates paintings of expression and impression. Though on the surface inherently attractive, redolent of light and with a nod to the French Impressionists and Pointillists, beneath the aesthetic power of her work lies an inner consciousness of self and inextricable relationship with the environment. Her work radiates admiration for the landscape of Chicago, São Paulo, and the Pacific Coast, among others, and she captivates the viewer with her expressive technique and emotional presence. As she aptly expressed: Your state of mind creates your version of reality. Remember when you were a child at the beach and you placed your feet in sand or jumped into the ocean for the first time? That moment of awe and feeling of belonging is what I try to express through my art. Ms. Almeida has studied in Florence, Italy, and earned degrees at Bowling Green State University and Elon University, amplifying her painting expertise with an MA in Interactive Media and Visual Communication. She practices the time-honored tradition of plein-air painting, arriving at paintings of exceptional spontaneity and timelessness.

Commissioning a painting

What’s a commission?

Is there a scene that holds a special place in your heart? Or a moment that made you feel in awe of our world?

If you love an artist’s style, you can commission a painting based on a scene that’s special to you.

A commission is when an artist creates a unique work of art specifically for you.

Artist’s style

I use vivid color and visible, playful brush strokes to capture the energy and emotion of a scene. My paintings are visual expressions of how a place feels.

I paint with the highest quality acrylic gouache on cradled wood panels. Each piece comes with painted sides, and is signed, varnished, and ready to hang on your wall.

Painting sizes and delivery

Painting sizes
18 x 24 inches: $1400
24 x 36 inches: $2600
24 x 48 inches: $3600
36 x 48 inches: $5200

50% of the price of the painting is due before the start of the commission. The remaining 50% of the balance is due upon completion of the painting.

Delivery
A commissioned painting typically takes around 4-12 weeks to be completed, and about 1-2 weeks to ship. Shipping is an additional fee and typically costs $100-$400, depending on the size of the painting.

Free delivery in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

Are you currently accepting commissions?

Yes.

If you would like to commission a painting, send an email to andreaalmeidaart@gmail.com. Please include the size of the artwork you would like commissioned and a photo of the scene you have in mind.

Black Swamp Arts Festival

2021 Black Swamp Arts Festival

September 10, 11, 12, 2021

I was selected to participate in the 2021 Black Swamp Arts Festival in Northwest Ohio. This annual juried festival in my hometown was my favorite event to attend as a little kid. In a few weeks, I will join over 100 other local, regional, and nationally acclaimed artists for a 3-day art show held in downtown Bowling Green, Ohio. Over the weekend, the city will welcome over 30,000 art lovers to the festival.

I will exhibit new original paintings and fine art prints for sale. My work includes expressive impressionistic scenes from Northwest Ohio and around the world.

About the artist

Andrea Pereira de Almeida

I’m an impressionistic painter. My expressive landscapes are colorful representations of the places I have been and how those places made me feel. I paint scenes that stopped me in my tracks and made me feel in awe of the beauty of our world.

Since I was a kid, I’ve been drawn to color as a way to express myself. In my eyes, color is a language that’s independent from words—it’s about feeling and expression of feeling though the placement of light.
